"I really felt cared for"

About: Post-Menopausal Bleeding Specialist Nurses / Nurse-led Post Menopausal Bleeding Service

(as the patient),

I attended an appointment at Perth Royal Infirmary's Post Menopausal Bleeding Clinic at the Women's Health Unit.  I have never been to PRI before and had to travel a distance to get there.  I normally attend Ninewells Hospital for any appointments.

I was very nervous about the appointment for a host of reasons that I won't go into here.

I made my way to reception. The receptionist on duty was so friendly, smiled and welcomed me and directed me to the waiting room.

I was a little early so I chatted briefly to another patient in the waiting room then I was called for my appointment right on time. A nurse called Ellie greeted me with a smile and chatted to me in a calm relaxed way as she showed me into the consulting room where I was greeted by the nurse clinician Sonya. Sonya talked through my case, explained what was going to happen and gave me time to talk through any concerns that I had.

Both Ellie and Sonya checked with me throughout the examination and treatment on how I was doing.  They reassured me, and Sonya kept me relaxed by talking me through each stage and explaining what was happening.

I felt that they understood my case before I went into the room and I felt that they were thorough in the investigations and treatment.  They seemed to understand what I needed as an individual and that really helped put me at ease.

What a lovely professional team, Sonya and Ellie were just lovely and I really felt cared for.

This is an excellent service.

I have another appointment soon, this time I know what to expect so I will be much less nervous.

Dear cepheussf86

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience of accessing the Post Menopausal Bleeding Service within Perth Royal Infirmary.

It is really warming to hear how you were put at ease from the moment you were greeted at reception to your interaction with another patient in the waiting area and how Ellie and Sonya worked together to support you in the best possible way they could caring for your individual needs. Individualised care and professionalism are aspects of care we strive to deliver and it appears that your experience reflects this.

I am so pleased your positive experience means that you will feel more at ease with your upcoming return appointment, I have no doubt that your next experience will be equally as positive.

Please be assured that I will share your feedback directly with Sonya, Ellie and the team.

Best wishes.

Daisy
