I attended an appointment at Perth Royal Infirmary's Post Menopausal Bleeding Clinic at the Women's Health Unit. I have never been to PRI before and had to travel a distance to get there. I normally attend Ninewells Hospital for any appointments.
I was very nervous about the appointment for a host of reasons that I won't go into here.
I made my way to reception. The receptionist on duty was so friendly, smiled and welcomed me and directed me to the waiting room.
I was a little early so I chatted briefly to another patient in the waiting room then I was called for my appointment right on time. A nurse called Ellie greeted me with a smile and chatted to me in a calm relaxed way as she showed me into the consulting room where I was greeted by the nurse clinician Sonya. Sonya talked through my case, explained what was going to happen and gave me time to talk through any concerns that I had.
Both Ellie and Sonya checked with me throughout the examination and treatment on how I was doing. They reassured me, and Sonya kept me relaxed by talking me through each stage and explaining what was happening.
I felt that they understood my case before I went into the room and I felt that they were thorough in the investigations and treatment. They seemed to understand what I needed as an individual and that really helped put me at ease.
What a lovely professional team, Sonya and Ellie were just lovely and I really felt cared for.
This is an excellent service.
I have another appointment soon, this time I know what to expect so I will be much less nervous.
"I really felt cared for"
