I experienced some Post Menopausal Bleed (PMB) and was referred by my GP. I received an email with details of my appointment and a leaflet with plenty of clear information and advice. Firstly, I was sent for an ultrasound scan to Korus Health centre, just off the A30. (This will be easier to find once the new road is finished). I was treated with kindness and understanding by all the staff there. The procedure was not too uncomfortable and I was told that there did not appear to be anything too untoward.
I was contacted a week or so afterwards, by telephone, to book an appointment at the gynaecology unit at Treliske. The person making the call was also very kind and understanding. Again an email was sent with my appointment details and a further information leaflet.
At Treliske I was made to feel very easy and reassured by all the staff. I was given a full explanation of what was going to happen and how to look after myself afterwards. I signed a consent form, again with a full explanation. The procedure was uncomfortable but not too painful, although I was offered gas and air if needed.
I now await the results of the samples of tissue etc. taken. However, I was reassured that it seemed OK and I was not to worry.
I had a similar problem in 2014. My treatment this time was more sophisticated and I obviously felt a little more prepared. I feel now that I understand more about the problem PMB and would not hesitate to follow it up again should it reoccur.
