"The care was impeccable"

About: Mater Hospital / Elective Overnight stay centre (EOSC)

(as the patient),

Recently I was scheduled to have prolapse surgery. Dr Anderson was the surgeon preforming the surgery.

Upon arrival, I was greeted by the staff nurses. Right away they put me at ease. This was the first time in my life that I have ever went under any type of surgery. I had not realised at the time I would be staying over night. It was not made clear on my admission letter. So I was a little shocked when I was told that I would be in overnight.

The nurses assured me that I would be well taken care of, even though I was filled with anxiety about the surgery. Emma the anaesthesiologist put me so at ease and I really wish I could remember her assistants' names. So I apologise for not remembering.

After the surgery, in the recovery unit, I was again put at ease that the surgery went well. Once back in the overnight care unit. I was again cared for by the nurses. Lyndsey and Judith were fantastic. Really all those ladies were amazing, again I wish I could remember everyone's name.

I can’t tell you how nervous I was about the surgery and to be cared for this way was the healing balm I needed.

I just want to say a big thank you to Dr Anderson and all the nurses who were there that day & night. The care was impeccable and the support was deeply felt.

Thank you x

Thank you Waltzkx64 for taking the time to share your experience in EOSC. My name is Sharon Adamson and I am the Lead Nurse for the unit.

I understand that any visit to hospital can be an anxious time and I am glad that the staff were able to reassure you and put you at ease. I will make sure that your comments are shared with Emma the anaesthetist and the theatre team.

I'm delighted to hear that you found the ward team amazing and that you were supported and well cared for.I will pass on your positive feedback to all of the team including Lyndsey,Judith and Dr Anderson.

I understand that it must have been a shock to find out that you needed to remain in hospital overnight,I'm sorry that you didn't realise this was a possibility before your admission. We are currently in the process of updating our admission letter and I will take your comments on board and try to include some information into our revised version.

I hope that you are continuing to recuperate at home and wish you a speedy recovery.

Many Thanks,

Sharon
