About: Dame Carol Detoxification Service

(as a service user),

I was seeking recovery from Alcohol addiction; I wanted to seek recovery to gain better health, be a parent to my children and be present with my family.

Before I come here, I was really scared, I wanted to go home the second first day.  However, it got better each day.  The staff helped made me feel at ease.

The first day I had to stay in my room due to my alcohol levels.  I was allowed out at 10pm that evening as I blew zero.  However, as it was late, I decided to go to sleep.  I come out of my room the next day.

I mixed with the other patients and I have made friends, this made my stay more enjoyable.

Since being here, I have felt like the old me, which is enjoyable.

I enjoy attending the group session where we complete a work book to help manage my recovery when I leave the detox.  This is helpful because you get ideas off other patients for goals to focus on, once completing my detox.  I am going on to rehab, once I complete my detox.

I have enjoyed the acupuncture which has helped relax me.

You get your on room with a shower.    I can't fault the place.  I would recommend coming to Dame Carol Detox unit should you be seeking recovery from alcohol or substance misuse.
