"I'm still shocked this is happening"

About: Friarage Hospital Site / Gynaecology

(as a service user),

I had read the leaflet and was slightly anxious but went ahead with it because it read as though it was at worst like period pain for just a few minutes. I was ushered into a room that looked like a torture chamber and I gasped.

I was held by my shoulders and pushed to the chair which I sat in with my legs in stirrups and then it tipped over so I was going upside down. The nurse then got both of my hands and pressed them into my chest and at that same moment I felt the most excrutiating pain and yelled to stop. I was trying to get out of the chair, was but was being held fast. I then felt another more excruciating pain and screamed.

The nurse said it was all done. I was then in shock and was given tea and told to leave when I felt better. I cried all the way home in disbelief. The outcome was that the procedure failed and eventually I had it again under general anaesthetic. I am due a cystoscopy but just can't do it.

I was lied to, coersed and abused and only offered one breath of gas and air after it was done. No empathy shown, nothing. I'm still shocked this is happening.
