"Lack of respect for the eldely"

About: St Helens Hospital / Older people's healthcare St Helens Hospital / Trauma and orthopaedics Whiston Hospital / Older people's healthcare

(as a relative),

My Dad broke his hip operated on in Whiston Hospital. Nurse laughing when Dad was coming round - apparently thought it was amusing.

Transferred to Duffy Suite for rehab, and whilst in there caught covid, pneumonia twice and sepsis, walked in on Dad and didn't believe what I saw he was sat in a chair dribbling completely out of it was trying to put his dentures in he was in a dreadful state, all whilst a staff member present was just looking at their phone.

Another time walked in and they were forcing a tablet in Dads mouth whilst he was trying to drink his juice.

No respect for the elderly at all. My Dad deteriorated on this ward and it seemed no one cared.

When I said I wanted my Dad home a Doctor made a comment to me over the phone that I was bringing Dad home to die. For God's sake this was My Dad - did that doctor realise how heartless this was?

At least I got my Dad home, away from that dreadful place. He was a wonderful elderly man and he didn't deserve such treatment.
