I was hospitalised at Lancaster RLI in 2021 with an MCA stroke. Communication with family was atrocious and I had no visits re covid.
Discharged 2 months later in a wheelchair with stroke team visits at home with a home care package. The staff who visited were very supportive however this package was for 6 months only.
Couldn't cope with toilet & shower being upstairs so moved to Scotland. As I was staying initially with family, I couldn't continue with NHS care other than emergencies, as I couldn't register with a doctor.
Eventually got registered once we bought our bungalow & received further care at home until transferred to care at the physio unit & Stoke occupational therapy at Perth RI.
Physio session initially then referred to the local gym with occupational therapy still ongoing.
Throughout all of this, the staff have been very supportive however there is not enough of them to provide the the frequency or continuity of care required.
Access throughout to my medical records has been a disgrace with them being absent from the system for 18mths+. Also different departments not having online access is unbelievable.
I am truly thankful to the staff for saving my life & their patience & expertise.
"The staff have been very supportive"
