I was admitted with an infected abscess and thought I would be staying only 1 night, however, this extended to 10 days and there has been one very special nurse who made my stay much more comfortable and made me feel cared for, nurtured and valued as a patient. Nurse Karen (ward 7) has been a shining light, her humour and friendly approach put me at ease and I knew whatever I asked of her it would be done and she instilled great confidence in me that my needs would be met.
Even under extreme pressure of the very busy ward, Karen remained polite, patient and cheery and maintained my dignity at all times. I feel Karen should be an example to her fellow workers and I feel her nature, which is to go over and above to help her patients should be noted and brought to her attention, so she gets the credit and recognition she definitely deserves. Karen should be defined in the dictionary as a 'superb example of a nurse'.
"Superb example of a nurse"
