My mother recently attended her GP with abdomen pain and blockage in her stoma. The GP referred her to see the surgeons at Monklands, on her attendance she was given morphine for the pain.
The surgeons said they would get her back for a CT scan to see what was going on between her hernia and stoma and where the pain is coming from. She attended the Surgical Ambulatory Care Unit and was told she would not get her scan, they don't want to put her through it, even though it had been requested. She was sent home still in pain, stoma still blocked and blood in her urine.
Doctors have previously shown concern about her right kidney - this was not checked and no follow up arranged only painkillers given. She called her GP to see what to do and the nurse called back and asked what do you want us to do? The nurse said they will pass the information on to the GP.
My mum has ongoing trouble with her stoma and hernia - but find the uncertainty of where the pain is coming from unacceptable. It is hard enough to get a GP appointment but then to be sent to hospital, only to sent home with no follow up care or advice.
I would appreciate if someone could contact me regarding this please.
