I was referred by my GP as I had a type of ulcer on my tongue that wouldn't heal and I was convinced it was cancer. I was given an appointment very quickly.
The consultant said he was 99% sure it wasn't cancer but they'd take a biopsy. It proved to be non-malignant but they asked to see me in a month to check that it had healed. It hadn't.
I was prescribed a strong mouthwash and checked regularly. It took about 6 months from start to finish to heal and during my last telephone consultation I was assured that if it flared up again to contact them again through my GP.
The whole situation was dealt with brilliantly and the consultant, the clinician who did the biopsy and all the nurses were extremely friendly and reassuring. Well done everyone and thank you.
