After a 3 month hospital stay in late 2022 and a subsequent fall resulting in a fractured pelvis in early 2023 and another 3 month hospital stay, it is fair to say my wife was physically and mentally at a very low ebb. Her mobility was poor, she was effectively wheelchair-bound and couldn't manage stairs to leave the house, or to go upstairs in the house to shower. There were further complications in that one leg was not capable of weight bearing, whilst the other was still stroke-effected, which meant that any rehabilitation had to be very gradual for a while. With the Physiotherapist working closely with my wife she progressed to using a zimmer frame, and then a stick, then managing stairs, and, thanks to the Occupational Therapist - having a shower. Now she has recently started walking with only my hand as support, and just using a stick when solo. It has taken almost 9 months care and attention from the rehabilitation team to get to the stage where she can be just left to get on with it. Her strength is slowly returning, her mobility and balance improving, and her confidence (which was badly effected by her fall) is increasing daily.
We cannot thank the support services enough, there are not enough words, the district nurses, Podiatry, Physiotherapy, and Occupational Therapy teams, are life changers.
Thank You
"Life changing rehabilitation"
