"Not getting the care and treatment he deserves"

About: Forth Valley Royal Hospital / Endoscopy and day care

(as a relative),

My close family member is currently in a capacity ward in endoscopy. He's not independent and still needs a lot of care. I feel he should be in a medical ward as he has ongoing issues and needing treatment.

He's not been out of bed for 4 weeks, he also hasn't been properly showered. I had to point out to staff earlier in the week that a pressure sore dressing he had on was in desperate need of a change. The member of staff told me it had been on for 3 weeks prior! He also has been promised physio but no sign of that happening. He's wasting away and it's upsetting to see.

Although the doctor, when my we have spoke to him, is very informative. The only positive I can find out if this experience.

I'm hoping he will be transferred to a medical ward and get the care and treatment he deserves. We just want him to be in the correct ward and getting the attention he needs.

Dear wezensb33

Thank you for sharing your concerns regarding your relative's care with us. It is really upsetting when we see our relatives deteriorating in front of us and I know this will be really emotional and distressing for you.

Our staff will be upset and concerned to read about your relative's care and I would like to take this opportunity to apologise to you and your relative for the experience. Our Senior Charge Nurse, Megan Fleming who is based within the Contingency Beds area would like to chat with you regarding your concerns and provide you and your relative with support.

With this in mind, I would be grateful if you could contact Megan on 01324 567290 who I have spoken to and shared your story.

Kind regards

Caroline
