"Left me feeling abandoned and hopeless"

About: Limefield Surgery

(as the patient),

About eight months ago, I found myself battling with a relentless condition known as severe hyperhidrosis. This condition caused me to sweat profusely, leaving me in a constant state of distress. Seeking relief, I made my way to the local GP clinic, hoping to find a solution.

To my dismay, I was met by a doctor, to whom I poured my heart out, explaining the extent of my suffering and pleading for some form of treatment. However, instead of offering a helping hand, the doctor refused to prescribe any medication to alleviate my sweating. It was as if my pleas fell on deaf ears, leaving me feeling utterly defeated.

Determined not to give up, I reached out to the mental health team for assistance. They recognised the severity of my anxiety and skin condition and believed that medication could provide some much-needed relief. They wrote to the doctor, asking for them to prescribe it as they were unable to. With renewed hope, I returned to the doctor, hoping that this time they would understand the urgency of my situation.

But alas, my hopes were shattered once again. The doctor intervened, abruptly halting the prescription process. They claimed that the medication in question was addictive, in my view completely disregarding the immense distress I was experiencing. It felt as though the doctor had cast me aside, labeling me as nothing more than a difficult patient.

Refusing to accept defeat, I mustered the courage to file complaints against the doctor. I believed that my voice deserved to be heard, and that their dismissive attitude needed to be addressed. However, instead of learning from their mistakes, the doctor seemed to hold a grudge against me. They continued to deny me the necessary medication, leaving me to suffer in silence.

In what I feel is a final act of cruelty, I recently have had a severe episode of my skin condition (still unknown what it is) and found myself in excruciating pain. The dermatologist sent me a prescription to alleviate my symptoms until my next appointment. Desperate for relief, I contacted the receptionist at the clinic, explaining my situation and asking if they could send the prescription digitally as this is normally how I receive my medication but one occasion they printed it as a paper copy. My heart sank when I heard the doctor's response. They insisted that I must collect the prescription in person, disregarding the fact that I am unable to leave my house due to my nerves and bleeding skin.

Now, I find myself in a state of immense pain and suffering, knowing that I will have to endure it until I receive my pay. Only then will I be able to afford a taxi to collect the prescription and finally find some relief.

This entire ordeal has left me feeling abandoned and hopeless. In my view, the doctor's refusal to accommodate my circumstances and provide the necessary care is not only heartless but also a violation of their duty as a healthcare professional.

As I continue to navigate this challenging journey, I am determined to find a new healthcare provider who will prioritise my needs and ensure my well-being. I refuse to let the actions of one doctor define my future. With hope in my heart, I will persevere, knowing that there are compassionate healthcare professionals out there who will listen, understand, and provide the care I so desperately need.
