"These letters and requests are very unwelcome"

About: Royal Cornwall Hospital (Treliske) / Mermaid Centre

(as a service user),

I am currently receiving treatment for interval breast cancer, which has been amazing and of the highest quality, with compassionate and professional staff. 

I received an invitation for breast screening, shortly after my diagnosis. I cancelled this, explaining the reason for the cancellation. Staff responded and were very helpful. 

However I subsequently received another invitation, just after my mastectomy, to attend in March. I cancelled this, and received an apology and was informed that I would be invited again in 3 years time. 

This morning I was dismayed to receive a text asking me to review my experience, following my breast screening appointment today. I haven't had an appointment for today. Having had a mastectomy 2 days ago, these letters and requests are very unwelcome. I need to focus on my recovery.

Please can you check your records again and stop this from happening again.

I am so sorry to hear that you have been receiving the invitations for a breast screening after your diagnosis and procedure. This shouldn't have happened, especially after raising this with the team. Please could you contact us via rcht.patientengagement@nhs.net to provide us with your name and date of birth and I will look into this to ensure it doesn't happen again.

I am pleased, thats the treatment you have been receiving has been such high quality from compassionate and professional staff.
