I had a few complications during my pregnancy and am a highly anxious person. The maternity team at BGH were so supportive from start to finish.
My waters broke 7 weeks early which was pretty scary and we weren’t at all prepared. We were able to fully discuss what that meant and what might happen and felt reassured by the calmness of the staff and the full information we were given.
The midwife who was with us for the majority of the labour was fantastic and had a really calming approach. Not only did she take care of me but she made sure my husband remembered to look after himself. I ended up needing to go to theatre and once again my husband was cared for too which I really appreciated.
I spent time on ward 16 and our baby was in SCBU. We were so so supported during that time and we learned so much. It was my 40th birthday the day after our son was born and the staff decorated my bed area and helped our wee boy make me a birthday card. It is an example of the really personal care delivered by the team.
I keep thinking of people to mention in my thanks but there are so many people that helped us in their own special way from the midwives to the SCBU team to the domestic ladies that it would be a long list. A massive thanks to everyone for their kindness, support and patience and for bringing our wee boy safely into the world.
"So many people helped us with kindness and patience"
