"Completely changed my mindset & relationship with food."

About: Child and Adolescent Mental Services / Eating Disorder Service

(as a service user),

When I began sessions at Cedarwood, Armagh; I was introduced to Sarah, who would then continue to help me through my 2 years at the service.

At the beginning of my time here, I was hesitant to the plan that was laid out for me. However, working with Sarah during this time completely changed my mindset, my mental health and of course, my relationship with food. I not only had a lot of respect and trust with Sarah, but she also became a very important person to me and I began looking forward to my sessions with her. She helped me gain confidence within myself and guided me to have a healthier relationship with food.

I also received guidance with the registered dietician, who provided me with meal plans that wouldn’t overwhelm me, but would put me on the right track to becoming healthy. When starting my sessions here, I was underweight, with a horrible relationship with eating and body image with an overwhelming fear of becoming healthy, yet by the time I was discharged from the clinic, I was at the healthy weight I worked extremely hard for and had the knowledge of how to handle the pressure and control my eating disorder had over me, thanks to Sarah and the rest of the team.
