"Miscarriage"

About: Whipps Cross University Hospital / Accident and emergency

(as a service user),

I can’t explain how traumatised this hospital has left me. I am not from London but moved here recently and the care provided has been absolutely atrocious.

I went to A&E by ambulance as I experienced heavy bleeding and pain, was told to wait in A&E I was there for 8 hours and I passed my baby in the toilets.

After being fed up I seen one of the nurses opening the triage door and approached them. They looked me in the eye and closed the door on me. . I asked for painkillers which arrived 2 hours later and were of no use as my partner had to go out to buy them as no one gave them.

Absolutely appalled by the care and professionalism, I understand A&E is hectic and busy but I was a pregnant woman going through this pain and no one helped me. The only person who did was the ambulance staff member who drove me to the hospital and then they had to leave.

After everything not one exam was performed, I was simply given a leaflet to call the next day for an emergency scan. I still cannot believe this happened with me after 8 hours of pain which was like labour.

Dear Patient

We are deeply sorry for the loss you have experienced and wanted to express our sympathies and for the delay replying to your feedback. It is disheartening to learn that your care and treatment fell below the standard you should have expected at Whipps Cross Hospital, for which we sincerely apologise. We are committed to addressing and improving the care provided to our patients; if you have not already done so and would like for your concerns to be investigated and a responded provided (or if you just want further guidance and support), you can liaise with the Site Governance Team either via Tel. No: 020 8535 6432 or email address wxhgovernance.bartshealth@nhs.net. We do, however, appreciate that this may not be the right time for you to pursue and would suggest that you to take as much time as you need to decide what you would like to happen next, and when. In the meantime, we will ensure that your feedback is shared with the service, as it is important that they are made aware of the concerns you have raised and the impact your experience has had on you.
