"The staff have all been superb"

About: Perth Royal Infirmary / Ear, Nose & Throat Perth Royal Infirmary / Ophthalmology

(as the patient),

I recently went to PRI ENT to see Consultant Mr. Jones. After yet more hearing tests in Audiology, consultant Jones fully explained my left ear hearing loss and blocked Eustacian Tube. Mr. Jones was absolutely first class and a credit to his profession. He fully explained and showed me my notes way back.

I could have yet another operation, but there is no guarantee that there would be any improvement in my left ear and an op might make it worse. I think I can hear very well even though my hearing is below par. Plus I can hear about 10 conversations going on at once when we go out to eat. -I have this hobby I try and pick up conversations from as far away as I can!!!

Mr. Jones recommends hearing aids so I've decided to follow his advice and go to Audiology for this. The staff have all been superb. I'd give them all a 20% pay rise!!!

Incidently enough, when we were at Ninewells last week with my Husband's Macular problem, Ninewells had not been sent any notes from PRI. The Consultant had no note of what was going on. In my experience, the administration between Ninewells and PRI is shocking, as I've already mentioned my 3 appointments over the last 3 years when every time I turned up at reception with my appointment letter, they had no note of me coming. My Husband's letter to go appeared 12 days after he had already been!?

I feel something has to be done because it's not helping the overworked Consultants and Staff.

We have the best NHS system in the World! Thank you so much.

Hi there, thanks for the feedback. I will pass on your kind words to Mr Jones.

I'm delighted to hear you felt well informed and able to make informed choices after your visit and that you have a plan you are happy with going forward.

I will pass on the information you shared about notes not getting from one site to another to the medical records team. Although many specialities can now see most of the info they need on the computer, it's a shame you were not expected when you turned up. Again this is the remit of appointments /medical records team and I will pass on your concerns to their manager here at PRI.

I hope you have a lovely Christmas and enjoy all the things you hear along the way.

Yours sincerely,

SCN Leah Hicks PRI GOPD
