"ASD/ADHD assessments"

About: Arndale Resource Centre

(as a service user),

I was assessed for ASD a few years ago. I knew I was also suffering a bit of PTSD due to a couple of previous traumatic experiences.

The ASD clinical psychologists and psychiatrists were very empathetic, mostly communicated well with me and mainly empowering experience.  I came away feeling slightly better and at least somewhat understood.

A while after I was referred to Arndale for ADHD assessment.  The psychiatrist who saw me turned up late, was not the Doctor named in my letter, they were abrasive in how they talked to me as soon as they walked through the door.  They said they would not diagnose me unless I agreed to take medication, I said medication was not compulsory for ADHD and that other things can help and I wanted to explore those.

They gave me a 10 page form to go home and fill in, I found the form overwhelming and very dehumanising - robotic questions expecting yes no answers.  The Psychiatrist, then wrote a letter to my doctor mis-quoting me, misrepresenting me and in some instances utterly fabricating things.  Their letter is a complete contrast to the report from ASD clinical psychologist - who I will note saw me for a couple of hours a time several times span over several months, in total around 10 hours.

I found the Arndale Doctor beyond unacceptable.
