"Thank you for taking such good care of all 3 of us!"

About: Victoria Hospital / Maternity care

(as a service user),

I was brought in for an elective c-section & I just felt that the care I received from Kirkcaldy in comparison to a previous section and care received in another well known hospital was something to write about…

I firstly want to thank each and every person involved in providing me care, from the second I was given my pre-op bed I was greeted with the loveliest midwives, the high standard of care did not stop there…

When the lovely Leanne took me round to theatres, I was greeted with the most funniest and kindest scrub team, anaesthetists and surgeons… they all introduced themselves, they all spoke away as if they had known me forever - they all genuinely cared. The female anaesthetist talked to me throughout the entire procedure and really looked after myself and my husband well. The surgeon (Michael I think) was also so friendly and attentive - he listened to my silliest concerns and again guided me with what was happening. I honestly felt looked after in the theatre room - as did my husband! He also felt a huge part of their team in providing me care.

When arrived back in observations Leanne took great care of both me and baby! From what I could see the unit itself had been really busy and yet Leanne provided me with top quality care and I am grateful. The care didn’t stop there… when the night team arrived (Gaynor I think) it continued on. Both myself and baby were well and truly looked after and we even managed to get a heart to heart, so thank you.

We then had two wonderful - yet hilarious charge nurses who performed our baby’s health checks and my gosh! They knew there stuff - they kept us entertained but informed. They told us exactly what they were looking at, what they were looking for and if there was anything to be concerned of and what their plan would be.

When I say I have never received such amazing care - I honestly mean it. I was transferred to the post-labour ward where I have and am currently receiving care from the lovely midwife Hannah - she has been amazing so far. She has checked on me so much, offered me lots of help alongside taken care of any little issues we have had tonight. She is a lovely midwife who listens and actually cared too…

I wish I could personally say thank you to each and every person that has been involved in my care… I honestly don’t have the words to truly reflect and describe to others how amazing you have all been. There are many names I have not mentioned and I’m truly sorry for that as you deserve to be recognised- but I honestly can’t remember them. I hope you read/hear of this feedback and know I’m writing about you too…

From start until now I have received the most incredible care from each and every one of you and I am so grateful. You have all done an amazing job and under such pressures too - you are the reason the NHS still stands and you should all be proud of yourself. You have all been attentive, compassionate, caring, professional and humble - all whilst delivering the best banter through your own personalities. What an amazing team you all are.

From the bottom of my heart, and my husband’s, thank you for taking such good care of all 3 of us! We will always appreciate you.

First of all, Congratulations on the birth of your child, we trust you are both doing well and are settled in cosy at home.

Wow, what wonderful feedback. We thank you for taking the time and providing this for the team and sharing your experience with others.

Giving birth, is a powerful yet vulnerable experience. It is really important to us that women and families in our care feel informed, and supported. As a wider multidisciplinary team we work and train together to ensure good team work and communication. It is the hard work of all the specialties involved in caring for women and their families that aid in the experience you have so eloquently described. We aim and strive for every woman to have the caring, compassionate experience you have had. We thank you for acknowledging all the hard work of those involved and appreciating our 'banter', as this definitely helps you through the day.

I will share your feedback with all the teams and ensure it is shared widely.

All our very best wishes, from our family to yours.

Good morning K_Sinc

Thank you for your very kind words- as one of the Charge Nurses in the Obstetric theatre, feedback like this is so gratefully received.

As a team, we are very fortunate to be part of the most important, exciting, life events our patients experience. I am so glad you found the team to be caring, inclusive and welcoming. I will pass on your kind words to all of them.

It is lovely to hear your whole experience was so positive, and I reiterate Pamela's sentiments of how working closely as a team from all specialties ensures our patients receive the best possible care.

I hope you are now settled at home and have had a lovely Christmas. I wish you, your husband and your little one the very best for the future.

Best Wishes

Karen Landels
