"The staff are a credit to our NHS"

About: Queen Elizabeth University Hospital Glasgow / Medical Day Unit

(as a carer),

My 89 year old mother recently attended the Medical Day unit as a day case.  She was very apprehensive, actually frightened, of undergoing her procedure. We attended the day before for bloods and were met with kindness and caring by everyone we encountered, from the clerical staff to the staff nurse Sarah.

It was no different the next day. My mum was admitted efficiently with every effort made to explain what was happening and provide reassurance. Claire was her nurse and was lovely, even allowing me to remain with my mum until it was time for her to leave the department.

Mr Glen, her surgeon, again explained very clearly what was to happen, and returned to tell her the outcome of the procedure in a way that she understood clearly. He was very kind and comforting to her.

I was able to collect my mum later that day and again, every member of staff that we had contact with were wonderful.

As a retired nurse, I can only say that the staff of the unit are a credit to our Scottish NHS.

Dear Tartangal

Thank you for taking the time to leave us your feedback on Care Opinion.

I was pleased to hear the care and treatment your mother has received from our staff has been to a high standard and she has felt well cared for.

I can fully understand her apprehension prior to attending her appointment so to hear the staff took the time to make sure she felt comfortable and welcomed into the ward was very heart warming.

I will be happy to pass on your thanks to the team who I'm sure will be as touched as I was reading your nice comments.

I hope you have a lovely Christmas and New Year when it comes.

Kind regards

Kevin
