"They explained clearly and took time to chat and relax both of us"

About: New Stobhill Hospital / Dental Service

(as a service user),

My adult daughter has a neurological condition and learning disability. She was referred for removal of a wisdom tooth over 20 months ago. We had a few hitches with infections and cancellations.

It eventually happened today at Stobhill and everyone was lovely and efficient. They explained clearly and took time to chat and relax both of us. The anaesthetist gave me privacy to voice private concerns and was able to reassure me. The surgical team checked in and out with us and were great. The nursing staff pre and post op at every stage showed care, fun and compassion.

The wait was not fun but it was worth waiting for and the actual event was caring and empathic which is what you want in moments of need. Ultimately it seems to have been a success and the addition of a STEPS soundtrack as she went under was lovely.

Dear Snowgg75,

Firstly thank you for taking the time to share your story on Care Opinion, your feedback is invaluable to our staff here at New Stobhill Hospital Day Surgery.

I am delighted to hear that the staff were lovely and efficient, especially after experiencing a few hitches along the way with regards to infections and cancellations which I am sure would be disappointing. It is nice to hear that the anaesthetist gave you some privacy to voice your concerns as I am sure it was an anxious time for you and your daughter, especially when having to wait for the procedure. However the staff in Day Surgery work hard to provide a calm and caring environment, hopefully limiting the anxiousness and stress of waiting and I am glad you experienced this from the staff. So much so, even making it fun for you and your daughter with the added bonus of STEPS.

I hope recovery is going well for your daughter.

Best wishes,

Aimee

Dear snowgg75,

We do appreciate hearing about your daughters treatment experience, thank you.

I am sorry that your daughters waiting time for Oral Surgery was longer than we would have wanted. I understand how frustrating it can be waiting on an appointment to be confirmed. Long waits cause patients anxiety and we do apologise for this. However, I am very pleased to hear that your daughter’s treatment has now been completed successfully and to a high standard.

Sending kind regards to you and your daughter,

Fiona
