"Hernia Operation"

About: Queen Margaret Hospital / Day Surgery

(as the patient),

I arrived at the Queen Margaret Hospital Dunfermline yesterday, for a scheduled Hernia Operation.

On arrival I was quite nervous about the procedure, however the nurses on hand were fantastic in relaxing me to put me at ease and keeping me up to date as to what to expect.  Nurse's Name was Karen in the Day Surgery Ward!

When it was time for my surgery, I was taken thru to theatre to where I met Dr Driscoll and his team, of whom would do my procedure.  Once again I was talked through of what to expect by an excellent team on hand. Nothing missed out and any questions answered promptly! I was then put to sleep thru a general anaesthetic to start my operation.

Once awake I was then wheeled back through to the ward to allow my recovery to begin, this time in the hands of Kelly who was very attentive, not only to myself but others on a busy ward too!

I've previously heard about how good the tea and toast is after surgery, this didn't dissapoint and hit the spot perfect!

Short while after, I was asked to use the toilet to show no complications later once home, all was good so I was soon helped on my way to a waiting wife!

Really appreciate the level of commitment everyone shown to myself to ensure I was fine on the day. I've woken this morning a little sore but to be expected, now time to allow the recovery to begin.

Thank you Thank you Thank you to each and everyone of the NHS.

Dear Chiefgogs

Thank you for taking the time to share feedback about your scheduled procedure at day surgery, it is re-assuring to see that the team were able to put you at ease, keep you informed and delivered a positive experience for you. It was Kelly's first week working in the unit so she will be very pleased to hear this, I will share your kind comments with Mr Driscoll, Karen, Kelly and the team who will appreciate them very much.

Wishing you well in your recovery

Nola and the day surgery team.
