I have already left a story about ward 6 and the excellent care I received there.
A&E, however, is a different story.
When the ambulance brought me to the hospital, I waited for a short while in there, then was admitted to A&E. The crew stayed with me a while, then someone came through to tell them to put me in a chair, after which I was dragged backwards to a waiting area.
By then the pain meds and some anti sickness meds were beginning to wear off. Consequently, my pain was starting to build again. Shortly, I was called through to a nurse's office and my details were taken. The nurse then told me to sit outside again. I told the nurse I was beginning to feel really faint and was there anywhere I could lay down, but I was told no.
I ended up laying across 4 chairs somewhere with the drunks and the other flotsam and jetsam of Saturday night life. Bear in mind that all I was wearing was a pair of bed shorts, a thin dressing gown and my crocs.
Eventually, the pain got so bad, that I got up and went back to the office and told the nurse that if I'm not found anywhere to lay down I am going to collapse. It was only then that another nurse took my arm and took me further in to another room, where I was examined. After that things started to get better.
I have to say that is probably the worst experience I have ever had.
It is difficult to imagine that it belongs to the same organisation as ward 6.
