"Medical Assessment Unit"

About: Royal Alexandra Hospital / Medical Assessment Unit (MAU) Royal Alexandra Hospital / Ophthalmology

(as a relative),

My husband was seen by optician recently, from there he attended at VOL medical assessment unit, to then be given an appointment with eye clinic at RAH later that afternoon.

Following from being seen by consultant at Eye clinic my husband was told that he would be admitted due to results.

He was taken down to RAH medical assessment unit in the late afternoon and at the time of writing the following morning, we had been waiting for over 19 hours and still no further forward.

My husband had been told he needs scans and that MAU was over capacity.

The staff throughout have been exceptional but my husbands symptoms since attending have got worse and changed and we are no further forward.

This is not an acceptable service for anyone, leaving the patient and family's worried and no answers even though it was another health care professional who initially advised of concerns.
