"Excellent care"

I would like to express my deepest appreciation for the excellent care I have received from the eye clinic recently.  I had a yellow card from a previous visit to the clinic, which meant I was able to contact the clinic directly when I experienced new symptoms.  I did this and was seen on the same day.  In that visit alone, I was helped by five staff members and they were, without exception, professional, kind and knowledgeable. 

I was diagnosed with a detached retina and scheduled for surgery for the very next day.  This kind of urgent access to care is essential to avoid very bad outcomes (including loss of vision) and I am so grateful that I live in a country where such prompt treatment is possible. 

On the day of treatment I was again supported by multiple excellent health professionals, including a theatre nurse who was particularly excellent at making me feel calm and looked after in the lead-up to the procedure (which was anxiety-provoking as it was under local anaesthetic).

The theatre team were equally good at making me feel able to cope with being awake for the procedure and I appreciated that way in which both the surgeon and the ophthalmologist provided clear information in advance of the procedure.  The nurse who looked after me in the recovery room was also very reassuring before and after treatment.

 Since then, I've had a couple of concerns about my eye and have, again, been very impressed by the fact that I could ring the clinic to get advice.  This has included reassurance over the phone and one additional appointment to be sure the pressure in my eye was normal. 

I really want to thank the entire team for doing such a great job.  I know they must see thousands of people and yet I've never been made to feel like just a number or that I'm being a bother with my many questions and concerns.
