"Lack of activities"

About: Allied Health Professionals / Occupational Therapy

(as a service user),

As an inpatient in the amhic OT had put up lots of posters for what was going to be coming up in the weeks ahead. Theses activities never took place, not once. I was so bored in the hospital as I’d been in for so long I was disappointed this never took place. Talking to people, they said there is never activities, unless the nursing staff does it.

Hi Jamie 80

Thank you for sharing your concerns about the lack of activities in the hospital. We appreciate that being in hospital can be difficult and at times can lead to feelings of boredom. You have mentioned that the activities on the posters on the ward did not happen, which is disheartening to hear, as the multi- disciplinary team recognise the importance of patients being involved in other events when not involved in therapeutic interventions. I hope you did get to participate in the Occupational Therapy led Therapeutic activities or 1-1 sessions if appropriate to your needs.

We will feedback this information to the multi- disciplinary team to ensure that any posters that are displayed on the wards are current. We will also ask ward managers to gather feedback from patients on what activities matter the most to try to improve the patient experience together with the multi- disciplinary team.
