"Showed me different breastfeeding techniques"

About: Altnagelvin Area Hospital / Maternity care Community Midwifery Services / Community Infant Breastfeeding service

(as a service user),

Amanda’s patient care was excellent. As a first time mum, with no experience breastfeeding I was stressed that I was not feeding my baby correctly. I explained my concerns to my midwife who kindly pointed me towards Amanda in Shantallow health centre.

Amanda showed me different breastfeeding techniques including how to get a good latch. She also offered my partner advice on how to support me when breastfeeding and how to correctly bottle feed my baby expressed breast milk. She reassured me every step of the way. This practical hands on, one to one experience was an invaluable support in my breast feeding journey. Its convenient location made this support even more accessible.
