I was needle-spiked with drugs at a bar and some hours after was taken to York Hospital. From there due to outdated COVID rules the person who brought me in was not allowed to stay with me despite me fading in and out of consciousness and being very frightened after the incident. Nurses saw me and moved me around the hospital to see different teams and I was left alone several times.
They did not offer to take samples to test what I had been injected with or to get the police so that they could do this as it is very time limited. They also did not test whether I had caught something from the unsafe needle - I had to pay for this to be done privately for my own safety and peace of mind.
When I was able to I reported the incident to the police, they came round to my house almost immediately to take urine sample to test what drugs had been used as they degrade completely within 36 hours after delivery.
I feel the hospital's inadequacy in this case lost the police vital information about the drugs I was injected with, potentially contributing to the continued epidemic of needle spikings. On a patient care level, this left me feeling vulnerable and afraid, without completing my treatment. I have had other care from this hospital be decent, but this was unacceptable.
