I took my partner to the ED after she told me she had mild to moderate chest pain (on and off), left arm pain, neck pain, dizziness, fatigue, and cold sweats. I couldn't get past the first page of 111 which told us to go to the ED. I'd just finished a 12.5 hour shift, but we went anyway. She was triaged and had an ECG and a trop t pretty quickly, and then we waited for about 4 hours. By this time I had been up for about 22 hours, and my partner 24 hours, and we just couldn't stay awake any longer. We asked the receptionist and they said the waiting time was 10 hours. We asked if they would contact us and she was a bit evasive, saying my partner wouldn't get any treatment.
As she wasn't presenting with acute MI, we left in the hope that maybe they might send the results to the GP. We'll only go back if she's in extremis. It's all very well and good having advice to go immediately to the ED for such things but actually that needs looking at if you're going to need to be awake for 10 hours it needs to say "have a good night's sleep and go the next morning", no?
