"Positive experience on admission"

About: Aberdeen Royal Infirmary / Acute Short Stay Medicine

(as a service user),

I was admitted to ward 103 Aberdeen Royal Infirmary late in the evening having been in A&E since midday with chest pain.

Every member of staff I met was very caring and helpful - staff nurses, health care assistants and domestic staff. All displayed an attitude of nothing was too much bother. As best they could, they put me at ease and encouraged me to call if I needed anything.

Although I only stayed in the ward overnight until the next afternoon it cheered me up. As a retired nurse, my faith in nursing was renewed - having previously felt dismissed and dealt with by people who did not particularly care.

You’ve got it right, keep on doing what you are doing, it really matters.

Dear AnnJ,

Thank-you so much for taking the time to post your experience on care opinion. Both teams in A&E and Ward 103 will be delighted to receive your feedback. I'm so pleased that the care from the teams put you at ease during what will have been a difficult time for you. As you no doubt know yourself, nursing is a very challenging profession at times so the team will be so pleased to read the praise you have for them. It will especially encourage them to receive such lovely feedback from a retired nurse!

I am sorry that you have previously felt dismissed in the past. If there is any specific experience that you would wish us to investigate and learn from, please contact the Feedback Service on gram.nhsgrampianfeedback@nhs.scot. I hope that you are now feeling better.

Best wishes,

Catherine Kim
