"Care after A&E admitted"

About: Royal Devon & Exeter Hospital (Wonford) / Accident and emergency Royal Devon & Exeter Hospital (Wonford) / Acute medical admissions (AMU)

(as a carer),

I had a high pulse rate and called 111. They said I must go to A&E at RD&E Exeter as quick as possible and had a 16:00 hrs slot booked. They saw me at about 16:30 and I was it was quickly determined that I should be admitted for diagnosis and treatment.

I was moved the Acute Medical Unit West and given suitable drugs. The staff care was exceptional and I was reassured that I should be fine. I am 77 years old and haven't experienced hospital care for over 70 years!

The consultant explained everything the next morning and I improved and was allowed home on the Sunday evening with a new drug regime that seems to be working fine. I have joined the MY Care online scheme and am amazed at the help available.
