Little did I think that a trip to the opticians for my NHS eye test would lead, within less than 24 hours, to emergency eye treatment!
Blocked vision in my right eye, which I initially took to be scratched on my glasses lenses, was in fact a bleed behind my eye, and he recommended, with a referral letter, that I go straight away for blood tests and get on the list for the eye clinic.
The new Emergency Department at Chesterfield Royal was my only option, and I was not very thrilled, especially as it would be about late afternoon.
But when we arrived, it was bright, friendly, professional and within an hour I was being seen by a consultant ophthalmologist and told I would be contacted in the morning with an emergency appointment for the eye clinic, as I was in danger of losing my sight in that eye!
I was treated in the eye clinic yesterday.
Thank you Chesterfield Royal and all the fantastic medics by whom I was fortunate to be treated.
"It was bright, friendly and professional"
