"Concerns about cleanliness and care"

About: Harrogate District Hospital / Trauma and orthopaedics

(as a carer),

I went in with a broken foot. I felt depressed. The nursing staff I met on Nidderdale ward were awful. I felt that they did not care. l got covid on that ward. I found this out when I was on Fountains ward and they took a test. I also had food poisoning, maybe not from Nidderdale ward but the hygiene on the ward was not good. They never washed the bedside tables.

The toilets were not very clean. So I don't think it helped my situation. I had chronic diarrhoea. I rang the bell. The nursing staff did come and help me but I had to shout from the bathroom door that I needed assistance.

I was on Nidderdale ward, Fountains ward, Oakdale ward, and none of them made a good cup of tea or coffee. It was not hot only warm. I was in hospital for three weeks, and 11 days were spent in isolation because of covid. There was about four nurses that cared and helped me. So I was not happy with the post-op care at Harrogate hospital.

The specialist are amazing 👏
