My elderly Uncle was taken to Antrim Area A&E after a fall. While there was a long wait (it was a Friday night), but the staff all did a great job in challenging circumstances. The doctor was friendly and professional and showed insight and understanding which helped settle my uncle. The nurse, Marvie, got bloods first time (which is very hard to do with my uncle) and was able to insert an IV without fuss. My uncle was well looked after in A&E. While he didn’t break anything, it transpired he had urosepsis, acute kidney injury and dehydration so it was a blessing he had fallen and ended up in hospital for those to be diagnosed and treated. He has since been moved to the Acute Assessment Area where he continues to receive good care and monitoring which he so desperately needed. His nurses, Angie and Vincent, have also kept me updated which is greatly appreciated as I don’t live nearby so can’t be there to visit mid-week. I am very grateful to all the staff who continue to make a challenging time much more manageable. Thank you!
