My teenage son got elbowed in the eye during rugby practice three weeks ago and sustained a injury to the eye and cheek that meant we had to visit accident and emergency.
Luckily due to his age we did not have to join the busy adult A&E department area and got sent straight to the paediatric A&E department. I just wanted to send some positive feedback as attending hospital in the current climate fills most with dread due to the poor press the NHS receives, and as a nurse working within the NHS I know how important positive feedback is.
We were sat in a clean and relaxed environment with refreshments readily available, my son was seen within 10 mins of arrival by a nurse who did a quick triage, she then spoke to the consultant to confirm the tests needed before he had seen my son which meant she could do the referrals and book the tests. This meant we got to speak to the consultant, the max fax Dr and have x-rays all within a couple of hours.
We were told we would receive a phone call the next day from the eye Emergency Department (ED), this happened and we received a follow up two weeks later. We also received an appointment for a review by max fax 1 week after.
I want to thank all of the staff for their hard work and organisation in this instance, I am reassured that not all of the NHS is broken. Thank you
"Thanks to the staff for their hard work & organisation"
