"Symptoms Dismissed"

About: Royal Victoria Hospital / Accident & Emergency

(as a service user),

I attended a&e at the advice from a physio. I attended a&e reluctantly after a past bad experience. I arrived at approximately 1pm and at approximately 6.30pm I was called by a Dr who from the minute I sat down I found to be rude and dismissed my symptoms.

I am already waiting for urgent tests as an outpatient but due to worsening and worrying symptoms I attended for advice. To sit for 5 hours to be in with the Dr and totally be dismissed. And in and out in 10 minutes. I also was not happy with the most rushed examination.

I had an app 4 week’s previous and the same examination was thorough not rushed. So for to attend already worried and be in and out in 10 minutes after waiting 5 hours is not acceptable.

Dear Joaglolo,

My name is Linsey Sheerin, Service Manager for Urgent and Emergency Care at Belfast Trust. Thank you for taking the time to share your experience on care opinion. I am sorry that you felt your symptoms were dismissed and that an adequate examination did not take place. This is not the experience that we would wish anyone to endure. I would be happy to look into your care further, if this is something that you would like me to do or to discuss further, please contact me linsey.sheerin@belfasttrust.hscni.net

I hope I hear from you

Linsey
