"Nurses help with my Blue Badge Renewal"

About: Lincoln County Hospital / Oncology

(as the patient),

As someone who is suffering from bowel cancer and the associated side effects of chemo treatment I was awarded PIP in 2021. As a result I was able to obtain a blue badge linked to the PIP award, which has been a key measure to help me live with my symptoms. My PIP award is up for renewal in November 2023.

With the help of the MacMillan Nurses at Lincoln Hospital, Beverley in particular, I was able to submit a renewal on time in April 2023 as requested by DWP. However, this renewal remains pending until DWP are able to allocate a case officer.  My blue card runs out next month and I was at a loss as to what to do since my PIP renewal is still pending. Thanks to Beverley’s sage advice and more importantly her expertise with dealing with such matters we have submitted a request for a replacement blue card, which is no longer dependent on a PIP award.

Beverley’s excellent knowledge of my condition and the symptoms caused by my chemo drugs made filling out the application form straight forward and has taken a huge weight off my mind. Hopefully, my PIP and blue badge applications will proceed successfully, which I have no reason to believe otherwise as my circumstances are unchanged. Any successful award is very much down to the help provided by the MacMillan staff, for which I am very grateful.

Beverley, thanks to you and Lincolnshire County Council I have now received my replacement Blue Badge. The whole process took less than one week. What can I say except if all such applications were this efficient we would all be in a much better place! My thanks to MacMillan for your continued support in my battle against cancer.
