In mid October, I had a migraine attack in Glasgow city centre. I took some Sumitriptam but still felt unwell and after consulting a pharmacist was advised to go to A&E at Glasgow Royal Infirmary. On arrival my wife booked me in as I was still suffering the effects of the migraine. The staff were courteous and helpful. The waiting times for triage were clearly displayed and I was seen by the nurse in the expected timeframe.
The triage nurse was welcoming and very professional. After an examination she reasuured me that it seemed I did not have anything other than a migraine, but suggested I wait to be seen by a doctor.
Again the wait time for a doctor consultation was clearly displayed and I was again seen in the expected time period. When the doctor came to examine me after various test results had been obtained he listened very carefully to me and what had happened, He carried out a very thorough examination, asked a number of questions and concluded that I had not had anything worse than a severe migraine attack. He offered advice on ongoing care and reasssured me that I was OK. At all times he was professional, sympathetic and reassuring.
Overall I can only praise the care and attention I received. The A&E department was very well organised, clean and tidy, and all staff we interacted with were very courteous and professional
Apart from the fact I was ill, the whole experience was very reassuring, and staff should be very proud of the service they provided
