"Maternity & delivery"

After a chat with our Dr it was agreed i would be Induced among other things I was very anxious due to this being my first baby after years of infertility. The 2 midwives who looked after me during my time in the delivery suite were absolutely amazing! They had so much care and compassion and they made me feel so relaxed and safe. My overall experience of delivery was so positive because of these 2 staff members. 

However I would like to mention something that happened to me so that it maybe wouldn't happen to another women. I was taken in for induction which didn't really work so I was in for a few days nothing happening. I was anxious so asked when I would be taken down to delivery suite ... the staff member was really sharp with me and said they where short staffed and no one to take me (which I do understand but it also left me worried). I asked if my waters broke themselves what would happen and the reply with attitude was that they wouldn't be putting in a double shift for any reason - I hadn't asked them to! It left my husband and I feeling scared and worried.

 Thankful as mentioned above during delivery I had 2 wonderful midwives looking after me, however when they would go on much needed breaks the other midwife would not engage with us,  and offered absolutely no reassurance or support, Once during a very scary time for us my husband asked for help which was shrugged off,  it was extremely uncomfortable and I didn't feel looked after at all during these times. It was very clear to myself and my husband that because we had simply asked a question, this person had taken a dislike to us both and during their times in the room with us made this very clear.

I just wouldn't like this to happen anyone else as over all i had a brilliant delivery and felt so cared for by the other staff, however would feel so vulnerable when this staff member would take over. It felt like they had no love for the job and unfortunately passed that on to us through our experience.
