"Unable to get appointments"

About: General practices in Greater Glasgow & Clyde

(as the patient),

I phoned two mornings last week for an appointment - 1st time the list was closed for appointments, when I phoned later asked about a future appointment was told the closest date was the end of October.

Less than a week ago I developed problems with walking any distance which caused breathlessness (which was stated is a red flag ). However, on phoning surgery was told no appointments or phone consultation available, that I needed to see another doctor (which means going to A&E).

I requested 2 appointments last year, had one urgent appointment earlier this year. I had minor surgery on my forehead and reacted to medication, face all swollen etc. I am not someone who requests appointments  on a weekly basis - prior to appointments stated above I couldn’t tell you when I last seen a doctor. I only attend for annual check with nurse for blood tests etc, appointments are by phone only, good I got to phone again tomorrow.

Dear learningrq98

I am sorry to hear about the difficulties you are experiencing regarding appointments with your GP. GP practices in NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde operate their own feedback and complaints systems, and unfortunately, are not registered to receive feedback via Care Opinion and will not see your feedback. Can I suggest that you contact the Practice Manager to discuss your concerns about your GP?

Or you may want to contact the Family Health Service Complaints Team who can provide advice about raising a complaint about GP practices. The email address is GCHSCPComplaints@ggc.scot.nhs.uk

Alternatively, you may want to contact The Patient Advice and Support Service (PASS). This is an independent and confidential organisation. PASS can help you give feedback, raise concerns or make a complaint about any health service, including GP practices.

You can contact PASS on 0800 917 2127 or visit their website at Patient Advice & Support Service | Citizens Advice Scotland (www.cas.org.uk ).

Kind Regards

Nicole
