"6 Cancelled appointments - previous cancer diagnosis"

About: Aintree Centre For Womens Health / Gynaecology

(as the patient),

I have a history of cancer and was referred urgently to hospital in December with post menopausal bleeding. I was seen in January for a biopsy and told by the consultant to get back in touch using patient initiated access if it happened again.

It did in March. So I rang to arrange the follow up. The earliest appointment was May. That was cancelled shortly before it was due and the letter said there were no appointments as there were no more clinics and I would be contacted when there were clinics.

I was not contacted so I rang again in July as it was still happening and was given an appointment for August. That was cancelled and rebooked in September. This appointment and a further appointment for September were also cancelled.

Today my rearranged appointment for October was cancelled. I was told there are no more clinics. I have been on hold to the Gynae dept now for an hour and a half at number one in the queue on two different phones. I don’t know how to get seen and am scared I have cancer.

Update posted by Alison771 (the patient)

I already contacted PALS last week before posting here to be told they can’t deal with appointments.

I ended up being on hold for over 3 hours to be finally told by switchboard that there were no staff available to answer the A&E telephones.

I have since contacted the CEO of the hospital who was very helpful and have now been seen and have a procedure booked for next week.
