"Breastfeeding support"

About: Children’s Services / Health Visiting

(as other),

After becoming a mother for the first time in June 2023, I received invaluable support from my lactation consultant, Nicola. From the early stages I found breastfeeding a struggle, particularly with my baby having a tongue tie. Nicola visited me on many occasions in the weeks after giving birth, offering her time, patience and expertise to support me in my breastfeeding journey. She also offered advice over the phone and was able to answer any questions I had which was very reassuring. I also availed of the local breastfeeding support group which was a great source of help and advice.

Breastfeeding did not happen for me as straightforward as I had hoped, so having Nicola as a guide really helped me to persevere and to find different ways to breastfeed whilst always ensuring my baby’s needs were met at all times. I am so grateful that my baby is now fully breastfed and this would not have been possible without the support of Nicola.

Thank you Maria23 for taking the time to share such positive feedback.

I am pleased to hear that you have felt so well supported by one of our Community Infant Feeding Leads and that this has had a positive impact on your breastfeeding. Our Infant Feeding Leads are dedicated to helping families with their breastfeeding journey and your feedback shows that we are achieving this. I am also delighted to hear that you have attended one of our breastfeeding support groups and found this a great resource.

I will share your feedback with Nicola and the rest of the team. Many thanks again and I wish you continued success with your breastfeeding journey.

Kind regards

Susan Rogers
