"Did everything to put my son at ease"

About: University Hospital Hairmyres / Emergency Department

(as a parent/guardian),

My son attended A&E with a head and chest injury after a fall at school. The department was very busy and we were there for 5 hours in total.

Jen, the Triage Nurse, was kind and caring, putting him at ease. She was also kind enough to find a quiet room for my son, he is autistic and after 3 hours he was very unsettled in the waiting area.

Leah the Clinical Support Worker put my son at ease and explained everything she was doing so that he would understand.

Linzi the Doctor was gentle and kind and also explained everything to us, giving time for questions. She also apologized for the wait which I thought was very respectful.

Dear Jarvis78

Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback following your son's visit to the emergency department. My apologies for the long wait as I can understand how distressing this would be for your son and of course yourself.

I am really pleased to read that staff made your son feel at ease and explained what was happening. I will ensure your comments are shared with them and the wider team.

I hope that your son is recovering well and thank you again for your comments

Kind Regards

Lise
