"My broken hip"

About: North Devon District Hospital / Accident and emergency North Devon District Hospital / Trauma and orthopaedics South Western Ambulance Service NHS Foundation Trust / Emergency ambulance

(as a service user),

I fell off the pavement and broke my hip in Cornwall. The ambulance was diverted to the hospital in Barnstaple as the nearest hospital was backed up. I was in a lot of pain lying on the road in the rain for 2 hours. The ambulance crew from camelford were wonderful. The staff at Glossop ward bay 3 were absolutely wonderful. My op was delayed until the Sunday (fell Thursday evening). After the op I have nothing but praise for everyone on that ward that I came into contact with. From the cleaners right up to consultant. Food was wonderful too. I came home on Thursday afternoon.

Dear Satss88

Thank you for taking the time to share your story on Care Opinion. I am sorry to read you fell and broke your hip in Cornwall and there was delay in your operation once you arrived with us but I am pleased to read that your inpatient stay on Glossop ward was a positive one. I am sure that the staff will be very appreciative of your feedback and this will be shared with them and their seniors that you felt they were absolutely wonderful. Your feedback is very much welcomed and appreciated by all our staff and it is lovely to read that after your operation you had nothing but praise for everyone on that ward that you came into contact with. From the cleaners right up to consultant and you enjoyed the food.

Along with the ward I will also share your feedback with our housekeeping and catering team. I wish you a speedy recovery and it must be lovely to be back at home.

Best wishes

Teresa
