I underwent basal cell carcinoma removal from my face. I wasn't too concerned about the procedure as I thought it was fairly straightforward and quick. However I was in theatre for over an hour and it turned out to cover more area than I was led to believe. The surgeon had not fully explained the extent of the operation before I went into theatre or at the original consultation.
The whole time in theatre was very traumatic despite the best efforts of the nurses present and the attitude of the staff prior to discharge was very business like and not very caring.
The after care by the Plastic Surgery Nursing Team on the other hand was outstanding. They were all extremely caring and considerate of my feelings and went out of their way to make me feel comfortable and relaxed. I cannot compliment them highly enough.
