Earlier this month my dad had a stroke in Bournemouth Lower Gardens. He was on holiday from Scotland with my mum. The ambulance arrived very quickly and the two members of the ambulance crew were exceptional. My mum was obviously shocked & upset at the time of all this but the ambulance crew not only cared for my dad, making sure he arrived at hospital quickly allowing him to be thrombolysed but cared for my mum too.
They made sure she was okay in the emergency department while my dad was being assessed and attending for his CT scan, evening getting her something to eat and a coffee. Unfortunately my mum can’t remember their names. This is above & beyond their duty of care and made such a difference to both my dad & mum. My dad, mum and all the family would like to thank this fantastic crew for their excellent care. People like this is what makes the NHS!
Thankfully after 10 days in the Royal Bournemouth hospital my dad was repatriated to Scotland and subsequently discharged home to us 4 days later & is recovering well. This is all thanks to the staff within the Stroke Unit & ward 9 at the Royal Bournemouth Hospital. Their stroke unit is amazing & the staff, especially the consultants & therapists are caring and clearly passionate about stroke care and rehab.
Thank you.
"Excellent care of my Dad & Mum"
