My husband had a stroke in Dec 2021, due to fall from mountain bike. During Jan and Feb 2022 he was in stroke ward at the Royal Hampshire County Hospital in Winchester. Sent for 12 weeks Hobbs residential rehab, paid for by NHS. Released home with no NHS support still not walking or using left arm. This despite being in his early fifties and having been extremely fit, strong and healthy before his stroke.
Due to a hospital stay of a week for a cranioplasty operation, he was removed from NHS community physio list in May 2022 and not put back on list upon his release, we felt utter abandonment and despair at this point. After repeated requests to stroke team Winchester and GP we finally got a Community physio visit in May 2023, 16 months after his devastating stroke.
Hannah has been amazing and made instant changes to my husband's abilities. Hand rails were installed and he has much more confidence to walk with bare feet and without a stick, going upstairs and feeling that life can get back to a good place. She is so positive and has given us achievable stretches and exercises to do between her visits that have meant big strides are happening in his recovery.
"Community physio made instant changes to his abilities."
