Yesterday I attended DrBhats Woman’s Health Clinic at University Wishaw Hospital for a hysteroscopy as I had post menopausal bleeding. I was very anxious as I have experienced painful smears previously.
On arrival I was greeted by a friendly nurse who was very kind and compassionate when I told her how I was feeling. I was then taken to meet Dr Bhat who asked about my symptoms/medical history. She was very professional and friendly explaining the procedure and understanding my anxiousness and assuring me I could have pain relief or if too painful , I was in control to stop the procedure.
I was then taken to another room and the two nurses that were there (sorry I can’t remember their names) were friendly and chatty and really put me at ease , even getting me a cup of water as my mouth was so dry with nerves !
During the procedure DrBhat explained each step and both her and the nurses asked if I was ok or in any pain . I was given numbing gel and then a local anaesthetic which definitely helped as I only experienced cramp pains which were bearable. I had biopsies taken and I can honestly say I did not feel them being taken.
Everyone was so professional and I can’t praise them enough as they made me feel relaxed and able to cope with the procedure , and for that I’m so grateful.
Thank you Dr Bhat and your lovely nurses , you were amazing!
