My mother recently died, and when my mother was in her hospital bed the position she lay in bed her head was tilted to one side due to the bone cancer and lying like this was comfortable for her.
When she died we were told the staff would go in and wash her and after the washing her head was not positioned flat looking upwards. I know this has to be done in case family would like to view because I've worked in hospitals and I've done this procedure, as I've prepared people who have deceased.
My family was most upset because they could not view my mum and every time we asked medication for my mum it took at least 40 minutes and ask in 4 nurses, and it seemed like one nurse never knew what the other was doing.
We felt my mum could have been looked after better, she was dying and we were told that we were to just ask for meds and we did. She was in her 90s, but the age made no difference to us, she was our mum.
